Taylor Bevan on recovery, performance and discovering hyperbaric oxygen therapy and the benefits of red light

For professional boxer Taylor Bevan, the work doesn’t stop when he steps out of the ring. Behind every fight camp lies a carefully balanced routine of training, nutrition and, crucially, recovery. During a recent rest week, Taylor visited us here at HybO2 House to explore hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and red light therapy (RLT), two innovative treatments that are fast gaining traction in the sporting world.

“I’m always looking at different ways I can benefit my performance and recovery,” Taylor explains. “Through my own research, I knew these therapies were beneficial. My partner had already been to HybO2 House and had great results, so she recommended I visit too!”

First impressions

Like many first-timers, Taylor admits he was unsure about what to expect when he arrived at HybO2 House. “When I first saw the chamber, it was a bit daunting,” he says. “From the outside it looked small, but once I got in, it was actually really spacious and comfortable. The mask was easy to wear and the whole experience was relaxing. I actually looked forward to my sessions each day.”

He also credits the clinic’s team for making the process seamless: “The staff are so professional and knowledgeable. They explained everything clearly and put me at ease from the minute I walked through the door.”

Recovery that fits the routine

Recovery is already a huge part of Taylor’s life as an athlete, with regular massage, saunas and ice baths in his toolkit. But he found HBOT and RLT to be easy additions to his schedule. “This week has been a rest week, so it worked out really well to fit the therapies in,” he says. “The fact that HybO2 House has early and late opening hours makes it much easier to slot sessions around training.”

The impact, he noticed, was almost immediate. “Even after one session I felt more energised for the rest of the day,” Taylor says. “Some niggles I had cleared up, even some lingering illness symptoms seemed to go. Overall, I just felt better and more recovered.”

Why athletes are paying attention

So why are therapies like HBOT and RLT becoming more popular among professional athletes? For Taylor, it comes down to accessibility and results. “There’s more information out there now and people are realising how effective these therapies can be,” he says. “Athletes are always looking for the gold standard in recovery, and HybO2 House offers exactly that.”

Would he recommend it to others? Absolutely. “This is the best you can get in terms of recovery therapies. I’ve felt more energised, I’m recovering better, and I can see how it would make a huge difference for athletes dealing with injuries. It speeds up recovery and just makes you feel better overall.”

Looking ahead

Taylor is now preparing for his next fight on 17th October, with a seven-week training camp about to begin. After his experience at HybO2 House, he’s eager to keep recovery therapies like HBOT and RLT in his routine.

“They’ve made a real difference,” he reflects. “If I had to sum up my experience here in three words, I’d say: professional, restorative and wellness. That’s exactly how it’s felt.”

And whilst Taylor may be a professional athlete, HBOT and RLT aren’t just for those in the sporting world. These therapies can support anyone looking to boost their energy, improve overall performance or recover more quickly from the demands of everyday life.
